Thanks so much everyone! You're a great help, even if it's just to give me hope - which I've been seriously lacking. Hehe.

And Leni, your son sounds a lot like my older brother. He's moved back home, actually...

Guess I'm a little late in this, but I'll go ahead with a post anyway. I currently work as an armed security guard for a private security firm. Not something I want to do for a career, but something to get by at the moment.

Also, I'm a military policeman in the Ohio Air National Guard.

I wanna be a musician, artist, or writer. I can already imagine myself in one of those artsy fartsy schools with a messenger bag and funky attire. That would be the life.

I'm currently a lazy student, with nothing to do all day except [s]sleep, listen to music and eat vodka jelly[/s] revise and study. I have so much work at the moment, I haven't even written any fanfic in decades :(

Well, as well as my "proper job" I'm spending this year (until September) travelling around the country visiting church groups, leading conferences and going to loads of meetings because of the work I'm doing with the church here. I love the first two, but hate the meetings! There are so many of them, I've just had to give up one day a week of my proper job because there aren't enough days in the week, which is a real bummer - especially for my bank manager!! :(

But, come September, I might be out of a job anyway...

I'm thinking of maybe going back to college to do some studying. I would really like to do Psychology (maybe start small, with a GCSE or AS/A level) - I did some research for a fic I wrote and got so interested I just carried on reading stuff even when I didn't have to any more! and Mike keeps telling me all about his Psych course, so I think I'd really like to do that. That, and a creative writing course of some sort, to learn how to write properly! But I dunno - I feel a bit old to be going back to school! :?

Got til September to think about it...

Leni, you're never too old. Education is an ongoing process, no matter what age you are.

And what do you mean 'learn how to write properly'?!?

On a side note, for anyone contemplating doing a Law degree, don't do it!!!! Unless you're prepared to work 9-5 everyday (which I don't), read hundreds of pages of law cases (which I don't), and generally sacrifice all forms of fun (which I don't).

Like Kaz says, you're never to old to learn :) Especially something you're really interested in. My Uncle got his degree at 45, and he's neer been happier :)

And Kaz, I know what it's like *HUG* (well not first hand) but a couple of my friends do law and they're working non-stop. I'm doing Geology and although there's not much lecture time, I have to do loads of research to stay on top of the coursework. And I gots exams. Have you got any?

*hugs back*. Yeah, I've got 4 exams next week for Contract, Criminal, Constitutional and Property - did you know you need to be granted a 'right of way' in order to access your own front door?! Then the week after I've got workshops running 9-5 everyday until the 29th when I have a live mock law trial in front of an actual judge - I am TERRIFIED. And I'm the prosecution arguing a case where the point of law is clearly on the defence's side! *Kicks law*.

Ugh, I need to go out.

When are your exams? You ready for them?

The thought of even doing a presentation terrifies me, and you're doing a mock trial :O You're so brave :)
and 4 exams in one week? That's really harsh.
I had two exams today, I've got one on Friday and then two next week.
Ready?
No :(
Well for my principle subjects I am <NOT>(Geology and American Studies) but my *lovely* Uni also decides to offer elective modules instead of making up the degree credits with your min subjects. So today I had an exam on 'media in America' (where I waffled on about Bones for pages lol) and Environmental geophysics. Which were epic fails; both of them.
I've got my Physics module on Friday, then next week I have Psychology on Wednesday and Forensic Science on Thursday >_< too much work.

Lol I'm not feeling quite so brave right now...

And I'm sure your exams went better than you think - besides, everyone keeps saying, "Your first year doesn't count!" Doesn't seem to make it any less scary, though.

Your degree sounds really mixed! I guess it's nice to have some variety. I wish I had time to do something on the side of Law. But I'll prolly do a post-grad, anyway. IF I make it that far...

My Uni tries to offer a much variety as possible, so at the moment I'm taking modules from 3 different facualties, and I can change at the end of my first year if I don't like my main subjects, hower, I do get confused with stuff sometimes cus it's so different. I can't imagine just doing one subject though; I'm so indecisive. That being said; I love education, I want a PhD in something someday, maybe geophysics if I survive lol.
What are thinking about doing after you graduate?

Yeah, I know that, but... when I hear you "youngsters" talking about the amount of work you've got to do, and how hard it is, I just wonder if, after 20 years, I can really get my brain back into gear to do some "proper" studying and be able to produce the work at the end of it!

And what do you mean 'learn how to write properly'?!?

Thank you - that's a lovely thing to say! :D

Hope you're not struggling too much under the weight of work. It will all be worth it in the end!
