I have one! :D

We've talked about looking back at our older work and whether we feel the need to edit or correct things... but how about asking ourselves what our favourite story that we've written is, and why. And to balance it, maybe what our worst is too.

I like it, Kaz.

*pokes LLK and Jodie*

Y'all should totally use that one! I wanna gush about my own stories!

Kidding :-P

But I really do think that's a great idea for a TQ. I hope we get to use it soon!

We'll see. I'm less keen on this idea because I usually try to have the TQ tie in to the featured fanfiction in some way or another. There's no saying if that's going to apply when the situation arises.

Well, it could fit. If say it was a fic that the author professed to like or hate. I don't mind using my Between How It Is and How It Should Be story as a featured fic to fit this TQ. You know that I don't really like it

Or you could change the wording slightly. Make it read: Looking back over your work, do you think it's true that your best stories are your newest ones/latest ones? Why?

Again, I don't mind using my fic for that one. But not the Between one, 'cause it isn't my latest :P

PS. Amanda, I LOVE your avatar. It's so true! :D

Possible TQ:

I have a tendency to write stories where character death occurs, and I once had a reviewer say that it was unnecessary for the character to die. So, to those of you that write character death, and even those who don't, how do you decide whether or not that's an appropriate course of action for the story? And do you think that a stronger emotional response (for the readers) comes from killing off the character, or from drawing things out longer?

Anyone else have any ideas?

TQ's aren't just my game.

What's your take on 'cliched' plot idea... when does something become a cliche? And what to you do to steer clear (or even towards!) these things?

Haven't we done one similar to that before?

I mean... about the whole cliche idea?

Lol, I thought we had. But I couldn't be bothered searching through  Figured I'd rely on you and your wonderful memory.

I'll come up with something new.

Maaaaaaaaaaybe, something along the lines of 'how do you implement your personal areas of expertise'. Like, in acting, we rely on people to have different skills. People come to me for dance and psychology related idea... we go to Peter for math stuff... how we use out talents in writing may be interesting to investigate. I don't know, though..

TQ: Okay, we've done favorites and the like. Now, with regards to writing, how do you go about handling those old 'cliched' ideas? Be that marriage, death, a child; how do you make your story stand out from the others; do you, even? Any devices you try to implement or issues you try to steer clear of?

Week 23.

Amanda_Ruth won best answer.

And... I'm not sure we've had personal areas of expeertise... exactly.

Okay, I'll play.

How about something to do with how do you know if an idea you've thought of is worth going for? Do you even need to know, preferring just to write and see how it happens? Or is a clear structured plan absolutely necessary before you even attempt to write anything?

You're not bad at this game Jodie.

Here's one I thought of while submitting a story to be featured:

Who do like writing about more, established characters in a show's permanent cast, or temporary characters who only are in your current story. Which is easier to write about?
