Introducing myself

Postby Dorothee on Wed Jan 21, 2009 5:39 pm

Hello all,
some time ago when I registered I promised Kathy to introduce myself as soon as time was available. So, here I am: My name is Dorothy, I´m 57 years old and I´m a history and literature teacher at a German Grammar School, that is I´m teaching 17 to 19 years old students. I`m especially interested in Jane Austen fanfiction, particularly stories that are based on Pride and Prejudice. I´m married and we have two grown-up children, a daughter studying English and Spanish and a son studying medicine. We live in Germany and, obviously, English is not my native language. So I try to make myself understood and I hope that all the others try to understand what I mean to say!
I found this site by recommendation at another ff-site and I still have to explore all that it offers. Unfortunately, my time is limited due to the amount of work at school, namely grading papers, which, for German teachers, seems to be an unending occupation.
I would be grateful if anybody could give hints whether there are P&P stories on review and where to find the reviews. Thanks!

I think, if you want Pride & Prejudice fan fiction, you should go to Jacqui. As far as I know, she writes it, and may be able to help you find it.

By the way, P&P is my FAVORITE Jane Austen novel. I fell in love with it the first time I read it, and haven't been able to keep myself from reading it.
Fry crack corn, and I don't care,
Leela crack corn, I still don't care,
Bender crack corn, and he is great,
Take that you stupid corn!

*peeks around corner*

Did someone say Jane Austen?

Hellooo Dorothy!! Welcome! Did you find us from austen.com?

I can help you find any JAFF you want - you tell me what you like, and I'll point you in the right direction. To my knowledge, we have not reviewed a JA piece yet, but the site is open to all fandoms.

Welcome, Dorothee! :)
Dean: Talking to a messenger of God on a cell phone. It's kind of like watching a Hell's Angel riding a moped.
Castiel: This isn't funny, Dean. The voice says I'm almost out of minutes.

Welcome! It's great to see you around!

I have this wonderful book it's called "Lost In Austen." It's one of those "choose your own adventure" books.

Yeah... not exactly on topic. But I love it.

I play all the time.

My favorite Austen Book is P&P too by the way.
And what of Henry, my Odysseus? Henry is an artist of another sort, a disappearing artist. Our life together in this too-small apartment is punctuated by Henry's small absences.

Thank you for welcoming me so warmly. Jacqui, whenever I´m going to have some questions I´ll ask them and depend on your help. I´m sure I have read your name several times, perhaps at austen.com or HG or AHA, so you must be an expert. Currently I´m still exploring this site which will take some time!
Have a nice weekend,
Dorothee
