The Buttons!

Okay, the topic title is a little misleading. This is about posting, specifically, using the features of the forum. So, let's begin with looking in the "post a reply" page.

To start, let's look to the left. There you'll find the lovely patch of emoticons. There are more emoticons uploaded for the forum than shown, and you can click on the "view more emoticons" link to see them. This will open a small pop-up window that shows them all.

Okay, now let's look on top of the window. Starting with the first line of things to play with, it's all about fonts. Here, you can edit the font you use in your post. Next, you can choose the size you want to use for the post. Finally, you can choose the color of font you want to write in.

The second line is formatting. You can justify the text.

You can also right align your text.

You can center your text too.

And then, there's the standard left align.

You can also write in [sup]superscripts[/sup] and [sub]subscripts[/sub]. You can bold statements, italicize statements, underline statements, and even [s]strike through[/s] statements.

You can gradient the color of the text, too.

The other buttons on the second line I'll explain later.

The third line is more formatting, but this is for the post rather than for the text, as the second lines were. The first thing is to code the text.

Secondly, you can put something in a quote box. This can highlight something you want to say or make a point. Especially with critiques, this become a great tool to use because then you can take samples of the author's work and then comment on it after the quote box.

[spoil]You can also use spoiler codes.[/spoil]

Spoiler text is used to cover up things that people wouldn't want to know, mostly about episodes that have not aired in the country the show originates from. It allows people to choose if they want to read it, since not everyone wants to be spoiled.

With the next button, you can add a website to the text, such as FanFiction.Net. With this, it's a scripted window in which you enter the URL and then the name of the page, if you choose. You can also insert emails and webpages into the post.

You can add images to the post, but check with forum rules before adding pictures. You can also insert flash files and videos. You can put stream files into the post, as well as Real Media files. You can post Google videos and Youtube movies in posts as well.

 • You can also insert ordered lists in here.
 • Adding brackets around an asterisk inserts bullets into the list.
You can also insert line breaks into the post.

Finally, you can use the last button to delete codes from the text.

These are the features available for use, but please, do not use all of them them in a post like I did, because you can see how it can get busy and confusing. Stay tuned for a little more on posting/feature etiquette. :D
Dean: Talking to a messenger of God on a cell phone. It's kind of like watching a Hell's Angel riding a moped.
Castiel: This isn't funny, Dean. The voice says I'm almost out of minutes.
