New Contest: Ideas For Challenge Six

Alright everybody! It's that time of the month next week. And no, I don't mean that we'll be PMSing. I mean that we have a challenge coming up next Sunday! I have the go ahead from the lovely moderators to start this thread, and it's of dire importance that we get responses (kidding!)

Anyhow, all you'll have to do is give a suggestion for a challenge. A simple format to use is:

1. A phrase that must appear at the beginning or in the story somewhere.
2. A maximum or minimum number of words for the length.
3. A maximum or minimum rating.
4. Genre(s) that the story could be.

Anything else outside of that is totally up to you.

Here are the unused challenge ideas from the last time we did this, as our preliminary choices, and good examples for what you can do. These can also be chosen from, if that's not already clear.

From marymagdalen:

1. Must start with the phrase: “How the hell did that get in there?”
2. Must be a maximum of: 5,000 words.
3. Must be rated: PG/13 +.
4. Must include: A ride on a rollercoaster.
5. Must have a supernatural element to the story, but some humour too.

From Audrey2419:

1. It must include the phrase "There's a thin line between love and hate."
2. It must be a minimum of 1500 words, but no more than 5000 words.
3. It must have a rating of at least PG-13.
4. It must include the song Smoke Rings in the Dark by Gary Allan.
5. It must be about the end of a relationship.

From kazalene:

Must include the phrase: "I guess that makes two of us."
Must be a minimum of: 1,000 words.
Must be rated a maximum of: PG13
Must include: A boat
And choose a topic: Must follow the theme of passion (interpret as you will).

From *Sarai*:

Must include the phrase: "What are you afraid of?"
Must be a minimum of: 750
Must be rated a minimum of: PG13
Must include: Rain
And choose a topic: Family/the past

So those are the ones that were left behind from last time. Now, for a new one, from me:

1. Must include the phrase: "There's something about this place..."
2. Must be a maximum of 1000 words (there's a reason for this)
3. Must be rated a maximum of PG13.
4. Must be a scene written around one of the pictures provided.
5. Any genre you choose, and any fandom. Just make it interesting! They always said a picture is worth a thousand words. Let's prove it!

And that's all. If you have a new idea, submit it in this thread. Have fun with it, and the decision will be made Saturday or Sunday, depending on when the mods decide.

Everyone ready?! LLK's challenge is about to be presented. Feel glad that I've given you guys the option to write your own challenges this week.... because this is the hardest one I've ever come up with.

Ready?

Ready.

1.Absolutely no dialogue.
2.Focus on the senses as you write. Pick three (or more) of the body's five senses and play with them as you tell your story.
3.Max rating of pg. 13.
4.Between 1 and 10,000 words.
5.One (or any combination) of the following genres: humor, angst, romance, drama, family, and friendship.

So.... am I evil?

I like it.
And what of Henry, my Odysseus? Henry is an artist of another sort, a disappearing artist. Our life together in this too-small apartment is punctuated by Henry's small absences.

I think I'm actually going to cry! I'm not going to be around for Challenge week!!

I'm going on a band trip for the week, so I probably won't be able to participate at all. Though, I'll take my laptop and notebook, so if I get the chance...

Cool suggestions, by the way, guys. I quite like kazalene's. It's nice and general but still relatively specific. You know? God, I need to not speak words.

LOL! Giorgia! Don't GOO! You're, like... the best when it comes to challenge week! Maybe you could, y'know... try and write something awesome now. LOL! Despite the fact that we haven't decided on a challenge. >_< Darn it!

Have fun on your trip, at least!

1. Must include the phrase: "It's never easy, kid."

2. Your central character CANNOT be a character you normally write centrally (e.g., if you normally base your story around Danny from CSI:NY, you can't write about him as the main character. He could be in the story as a mention, but he can't be head honcho. Does that make sense?)

3. Must be a max rating of PG-13.

4. Must be more than 1000 words.

5. Must be an angst story.
Dean: Talking to a messenger of God on a cell phone. It's kind of like watching a Hell's Angel riding a moped.
Castiel: This isn't funny, Dean. The voice says I'm almost out of minutes.

Oh, I didn't really think that one through. I won't know what the challenge is until next Saturday! Sad.

But thank you, Amanda Ruth! I think I might take the challenge and write a piece for it after challenge week. I'll post it on FF.net. Challenges are so much fun, I hate to be missing one. But now, I have to walk the dog. Eugh, it's about two minutes away from rain, judging by the sky and amount of [really noisy] birds flying around.

Yay. I'll write some whan I get back to make me feel better. But enough about my canine-related issues.
