I need help!

Hey folks.

I need some help with a fic I'm writing. I got no answer on this when I asked on Talk CSI, and I couldn't find a specific place here to ask questions about or ask for help with fanfic writing, so I started a new bit - I hope that's OK! If not... what the hell - sue me! (Actually, please don't - I can't afford it!)

So - the problem.

I'm writing a Miami fic, and I have an idea where the story is going. It's about a woman who's being a nuisance, following the main character around - not exactly a "stalker", as I understand the term, but getting there. The main character's trying to get rid of her (as in, get her to back off and leave him alone!), and then she gets dangerous, setting fire to his apartment, and probably doing a few other nasty things too by the time I've finished! Problem is, I've got a gap in the middle; I want to put in a bit where someone tells her to back off, lays down the law a bit, etc, but I have no idea what the procedure might be, and I can't seem to get the words and everything right for it! :?

I can't post anything until the whole story's finished (that's just the way I work), so - if anyone can help, if you have any ideas, if you want to take a look, if you know "a-man-who-can" - please talk to me! :D

Thanks guys and gals.

Leni,

Depending on where the "quasi-stalking" is taking place it could be a number of people who step in. For example, if these people met at work the human resources department could step in after the person being harrassed made a complaint.

Another example would be to have law enforcement step in in an informal way. This might be the step taken before a Restraining Order is issued. I have a friend who actually had the Sheriff of the county she lives in speak to her Ex so she wouldn't have to get a restraining order. It worked and he left her alone...

If you want me to, I'll be glad to take a look or help in any way I can. Just let me know.

Audrey :)

Hi Audrey. Sorry for the delay - been away for a bit.

Thanks for your offer of help! It's quite a long story already (23k words), and it's really not finished yet, but if you want to take a look at it, great. I could email it to you if you want to give me an email address. Would you want to see the whole thing, to get the feel (or not!) of it, or just a "precis" of it?

I would be grateful for any thoughts, help or inspiration on any of it, really! It's only the second chapter story I've written - and I'm currently re-writing the first one!

Let me know how you want to go about it.
And thanks again.

OK, I realise this is getting to be my own personal helpline here! Must mean that you guys know all the answers, right? :D
I need help with doing something on ff.net, and thought maybe someone here could help me.

I've completely re-written a story and want to post it. Do I need to take the original off ff.net before I do that, and if so, how do I do that? Or do I just post the new one with a different title? :? Sorry, I am totally no good when it comes to this sort of thing!

Thanks in advance, guys.

It has a completely new title, or the same title?

I think you can go back and switch chapters. You click on the story name, then content/chapters, and I think there's an option to replace chapters... maybe that might help?
Dean: Talking to a messenger of God on a cell phone. It's kind of like watching a Hell's Angel riding a moped.
Castiel: This isn't funny, Dean. The voice says I'm almost out of minutes.

If it's the same story you have to remove the old one.
And what of Henry, my Odysseus? Henry is an artist of another sort, a disappearing artist. Our life together in this too-small apartment is punctuated by Henry's small absences.

It has a different title now. And I think I need to remove the old one, but I'm not sure how to do that. :?

Go to "edit story" and "Delete" will be in the top right. Just click there.

Doh! Yeah, just found that! Thanks guys. I'll try not to delete the whole website in the process! But if the whole of ff.net disappears completely, it's NOT MY FAULT!
