I Have News That I've Just Gotta Share!

Okay, I don't know if there is similar topic elsewhere, but I had something I just wanted to shout from the roof of my apartment building.

I JUST FINISHED MY FIRST MULTI-CHAPTER FIC!

I can't believe I finally did it. :D

I hope that we can use this thread to give ourselves a much needed "Atta-Boy" or just make any other announcements.

Yay to me!

Congrats, Audrey. I was stoked when I first finished a chapter piece. It realy does expand your possibilities as far as writing goes.

Less confining, or something.

How long is it?

Yes, I remeber the first chapter piece I ever finished. The feeling is incredible.

Congrats.
And what of Henry, my Odysseus? Henry is an artist of another sort, a disappearing artist. Our life together in this too-small apartment is punctuated by Henry's small absences.

Congrats Audrey - can't believe you wrote a chapter fic in such a short time! I'm working on one that's already taken me five months, and I'm only on chapter 15!

They have awards for fanfic? I never knew that! Where d'you find out about those?

Hey Leni! Here is a link for the website for the NCIS Fanfic Awards:

NCIS FanFiction Awards

I found out when I got nominated by someone who had both of my stories. I was touched I must say!

I got through them so fast because I was inspired, the first one was 12 chapters and the second was 9. I'm getting ready to start the third story in the series. I think I'm addicted...

HELP!!

Help? I think I'm going to encourage, instead!

That is impressive. That's a heck of a lot of chapters. On average, I've only got two chapters per story. But nine and 12? That awesome!

Congrats, Audrey!

The thing about chapter fics is that when you're inspired they just fly out really quick, but if you're not they are *painfully* slow going.

Good luck with the awards!

Oh, and Leni, there are fanfic awards for a range of fandoms. All three CSI shows have them as well. I think Zelda posted a link to last year's on here somewhere... Here

Well, I finally finished A Fine Mess. It's funny, it was the first fic I started, but it sure has taken me the longest to finish. I'm proud, though. I only have one more WIP right now and then I can start on my next project!

Hey, well done, Audrey! I really will get around to reading it soon!

I love writing chapter fics - you can really get into things in depth, more than you can with just a one-shot, but then you also run the danger of rambling and getting off topic more, I suppose! My longest fic so far in terms of chapters is 42 chapters / 53k words, but the one I'm working on and posting at the moment will probably be longer in word count, but only about 28 chapters. Not that you really wanted to know that!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how many words is the average novel? If there is such a thing as an "average" novel! Let's say a 500 page paperback. Just curious, and don't have time to count...!!

Anyway - good one, Audrey. Here's to the next!
